Carter's Lions- Mr. Carter is attacked during a performance with a tiger. His throat is badly wounded, but he manages to grab a hammer and beat the tiger to death.
Cirque Olympique- A correspondent from France describes an accident at the Cirque Olympique. A horse breaks his leg and must be put down, and the master weeps before the audience, who also weeps.

Surrey Zoo- Obituary of Jocko, the Queen's favorite monkey. Dr. Cross of the Surrey Zoological Gardens believes consumption was the cause. The monkey is taxidermied and displayed in the castle.

Description:
Batty's Menagerie- A big cat keeper at Batty's Menagerie accidentally falls on a tiger, who attacks him. A lion attacks the tiger, allowing the keeper to be saved.
Carter's Lions- In a performance by Carter and his lions that involves a car on a high platform, they both fall. The lion is badly injured, less so Mr. Carter.
The Globe :: DEATH OF ABRAHAM SAUNDERS, THE CELEBRATED SHOWMAN.
Description:
- Obituary of Abraham Saunders, a prominent equestrian. Dies aged 91. Famous not only for his own acts, but for mentoring others, such as Andrew Ducrow.
- In a Bohemian theatre, a performing bear loses its temper and gets loose, causing a panic in the crowd. The only injuries were caused by the crowd. The bear is put down the next day.
- Three natives of British Guyana are on exhibit, demonstrating the use of the blowpipe and bow. Other exhibits include natural curiosities like the pirarucu fish.
- Herr Heinrich Shreyer exhibits his performing monkeys and dogs. They perform a wide variety of vignettes, from carriage rides to the execution of soldiers.
- An orangutan imported to the Zoological Society from Borneo has died, seven years later. It has been preserved and is on display at the Society's Museum.
Wombwell's Menagerie- A leopard at Wombwell's Menagerie overpowers a keeper and escapes. He injures a young man, who is hospitalized in critical condition.

- Fear for the safety of Charles Green and his balloonists. Explanation of their methods and supplies, supposedly allowing them to stay aloft for nearly a month if necessary. Seen headed toward Amsterdam.
Surrey Zoo- The boa constrictor at the Zoological Gardens ate his companion and had to be fed yet again. The other animals are in good health. New animals, such as tigers, a wombat, and others, are expected soon.
- Catlin gives a lecture in which he explains that the Sioux and Dakota Indians feel a long-standing kinship with the English, dating back to their siding with the British during the American War of Independence.
Wombwell's Menagerie- A tiger escapes from Wombwell's Menagerie, and is apprehended in a garden while he is distracted eating a dog. One policeman is injured.
- Charles Green's balloon is seen over Calais and appears to be heading for Belgium. A reply to a letter from the balloon dropped over Dover is received.
