Xin Shan
Say it in 6: "Claim my power, experience splendid life." Xin was awarded a P.E.O. International Peace Scholarship to pursue her PhD in Industrial Engineering within the FSU-FAMU College of Engineering. Her work developed novel optoelectronic devices such as light-emitting diodes (LEDs) and photodetectors using organic-inorganic hybrid perovskite semiconductor materials. Her research has implications for fabricating more affordable and portable phototherapeutic devices for curing skin diseases. When not engrossed in her work, Xin enjoys to swim, read novels, and especially read Shakespeare. She is also an accomplished speaker: in 2017 Xin won the People's Choice Award in the 3-Minute-Thesis (3MT) competition at Florida State. Xin has followed her heart in pursuing her graduate education, and she encourages other students interested in graduate school to pursue their interests with persistence.
