She is the editor of Women in Higher Education Newsletter, a publication whose goal is to "enlighten, encourage, empower, and enrage women on campus." Kelly has written four books: Gospel According to the Klan: The KKK's Appeal to Protestant America, 1915-1930 (2011); The Zombies Are Coming! The Realities of the Zombie Apocalypse in American Culture (2013); Grace Period: A Memoir in Pieces (2017); and Sexism Ed: Essays on Gender and Labor in Academia (2018). As writer and social analyst, Kelly combines her training as historian/reporter to offer honest and insightful analysis and to expose systems of oppression and injustice.
