A 2kV high voltage LLC resonant DC to DC converter using silicon carbide (SiC) devices is proposed. The converter is applied for the medium voltage PV system to boost PV array terminal voltage and carry out maximum power point tracking (MPPT). The proposed LLC resonant converter consists of three main parts including full bridge, LLC resonant tank and high voltage transformer. Zero voltage switching (ZVS) are achieved among all power MOSFETs. Meanwhile, SiC MOSFETs are used to provide higher efficiency, which will increase the power density of the converter and highlight the advantage of soft switching. Besides, A wide input voltage of 300 V to 500 V is accommodated with a flexible voltage gain of the LLC resonant converter. In this thesis, the detailed design procedure is presented. And the principle of operation and the characteristics of the proposed converter circuit is analyzed and verified based on the simulation and experiment results.
