Several ablative therapies are effective. However, endovenous laser ablation (EVLA) has a higher 5-year success rate than surgical stripping, ultrasound-guided foam sclerotherapy (UGFS), and radiofre-quency ablation (RFA). EVLA is also associated with less postoperative pain, and results a faster improvement in health-related quality of life when compared with surgery. (SOR A, based on a meta-analysis.) Compression stockings are not as effective as ablative therapy. (SOR A, based on a meta-analysis.)
