The work of the Center for Leadership & Social Change is rooted in three former offices at Florida State University. Building on a collective 55 years of wisdom and experience, the Center integrates diversity, leadership, and service to facilitate educational experiences for students. In 1972, the Office of Minority Affairs was established at FSU. This would eventually become the Center for Multicultural Affairs after several name changes. In 2012, the Center for Multicultural Affairs and Center for Leadership & Civic Education merged to create the Center for Leadership & Social Change. The Center for Leadership & Social Change transforms lives through identity development, leadership education and community engagement. It offers more than 30 programs intended to foster opportunities and vision to create positive, sustainable change in the FSU communities and the broader world. Opportunities range from one-time service at local nonprofits to year-long training and leadership roles. The Center also offers training on such topics as leadership development, identity and cultural competence, service learning, and community change.
