She was drawn to the English program at FSU because of their Literature, Media, & Culture track which aligned with her focus on literature, on-screen representations of race, and culture. She was granted the McKnight Doctoral Fellowship to fund her research on culture, national identity and assimilation in literature and media. Her professional aspirations beyond the PhD are to serve as a teacher, mentor, and advocate to students. "
