Melanie Hom

"Say it in 6: "Obtain skills to effect meaningful change." Melanie is a student in the PhD program in Clinical Psychology at Florida State. She studies suicide prevention, an interest which she developed in her undergraduate career. Studying under Professor Thomas Joiner, Melanie's is developing a program of research that connects individuals at elevated suicide risk to high-quality mental health care services in an effort to save lives and alleviate suffering. She anticipates working in research and in clinical work in her future career. Melanie received the P.E.O. Graduate Scholar award to fund the final years of her doctoral work at FSU."
