Policy on Morals and Influences, as approved by the Florida Board of Control and presented to the Florida State University Council of Deans. The policy instructs the university to screen faculty, staff, and students for "Communistic activity or sex deviation."

The policy, dated December 9, 1961, is attached to Council of Dean meeting minutes from January and Februrary, 1962. The policy reflects attitudes of the then-active Florida Legislative Investigation Committee, which led targeted investigations of civil rights activists, suspected communists, and gay and lesbian individuals. The Council of Deans, formerly the Council of Academic Deans, considers matters of mutual interest to all the deans and advises the Vice President as he seeks to determine long-term educational plans and general criteria and standards for the acquisition and deployment of University resources in the academic area.
