This manuscript by Susan Bradford Eppes documents the life of a young Seminole woman "Indian Jane" and her marriage to a white man named William Austin during the American Civil War. Upon Austin's death, Confederate Colonel Bradford was named executive of his estate and guardian to the Austin children and their mother returned to her native lifestyle.
