"Because the Southern Authors' Award concerned books about the Southern region, this writer sought to evaluate their contribution to Southern literature through the reviews appearing in the Book Review Digest. This medium was chosen, because the writer is not qualified to analyze critically each book as to its importance. The procedure followed in this paper was: (1) to obtain background information relative to the Southern Author Award, (2) to gather up-to-date information from available sources, or from the award winners themselves, in order to write a sketch of each author, (3) to evaluate the Southern Authors' Award books through their reviews in Book Review Digest, and (4) to summarize the findings of this paper. Two Florida State University Library School Master's Studies were of aid to this writer in determining the form for the presentation of the data"--Introduction.
