The policies of the Guide as stated by Dr. Marcus Wilson Jernegan, editor of the United States history section, have been followed in the preparation of this bibliography. Show more"This paper presents a bibliography bringing material for the revolutionary period of United States history in A Guide to Historical Literature up-to-date. The policies of the Guide as stated by Dr. Marcus Wilson Jernegan, editor of the United States history section, have been followed in the preparation of this bibliography. In keeping with the spirit and purpose of the Guide, 'There are listed only such works of general interest or of general character and such more important and useful special studies as are likely to be of service to public libraries, secondary schools, and colleges.' Due to the listing of bibliographies in American history in section XI, selections for the revolutionary period of United States history were limited, 'chiefly to important standard works and to the more valuable special studies.' However, less valuable material was included for those topics which had not received 'authoritative or definitive treatment'"--Introduction.
