Show moreProject A+ is a research study that discovered solutions to serving academic library users with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The research protocol included working with three diverse academic libraries, librarians, disability services personnel, and students on the autism spectrum to gather data on the types of library settings, activities, services, and materials that students with ASD prefer. This resulting manual for academic librarians is intended to assist them in reducing library anxiety and supporting success in students with ASD and their use of the library. This manual from Project A+ also builds on the successful Florida State IMLS-funded Project PALS (Panhandle Autism Library Services) a set of four online self-paced professional development chapters, available on WebJuncton, that provide practical strategies for librarians in all types of libraries to implement. The PALS exit survey revealed further information – that training, strategies, and real-world models are needed in order for librarians to fully support patrons with ASD at the highest levels, particularly in college and university libraries.

The book covers computer arithmetic, root-finding, numerical quadrature and differentiation, and approximation theory. The reader is expected to have studied calculus and linear algebra. Some familiarity with a programming language is beneficial, but not required. The programming language Julia will be introduced in the book. The simplicity of Julia allows bypassing the pseudocode and writing a computer code directly after the description of a method while minimizing the distraction the presentation of a computer code might cause to the flow of the main narrative.
