Note(s): "In the fresh-water marshes of the Everglades, the southern or "you all" branch of the big Florida snail family is found. Drainage projects have turned the large mollusk out of much of his former habitat. As a result the snail is disappearing and so is the rare Everglade kite, a bird that eats nothing except this particular snail." This photograph was used in an article that Mary Lou Norwood wrote for publication.
