Abstract/Description: The available experimental data for the Ne-20 + O-16 system in the energy range where the effect of a-cluster transfer is well observed are reanalyzed using the cluster folding model. The cluster folding potential, which includes both real and imaginary terms, reproduces the data at forward angles and the inclusion of the O-16(Ne-20,O-16)Ne-20 elastic transfer process provides a satisfactory description of the backward angles. The spectroscopic factor for the Ne-20 -> O-16 + alpha overlap was extracted and compared with other values from the literature. The present results suggest that the (Ne-20, O-16) reaction might be an alternative means of exploring the alpha-particle structure of nuclei.
