Abstract/Description: Wernher von Braun was known during his life as a hero of the Space Age. However, his early work with the Nazi regime and the horrendous details surrounding his creation of the V-2 bomb should imply that he be viewed through a far more critical lens. This paper examines the ways in which Wernher von Braun played an active role in shaping his public perception, by minimizing and erasing the atrocities of his past and using his charisma to shape his goals for the future.
