According to a newspaper clipping next to the photograph, "Mister" Jules Elliot was the night watchman at FSCW who became "somwhat of a character at the college". Very knowledgeable about the campus, Elliot apparently maintained a radio set within the administration building (Westcott). The article notes, "One of the mysteries of the college is just when 'Mister' Elliot sleeps. At almost any hour of the day, and at almost any place, he may be seen downtown."
