Abstract/Description: The purpose of this study was to examine “Second victim” phenomenon. Second victim phenomenon relates to healthcare providers’ response to an unanticipated adverse patient event, a medical error, or a patient related injury. The provider becomes a victim in the sense that the provider is traumatized by the event. The clinical question is: What physical and psychological effects do adverse event/medical errors have on second victims?
