Dr. Felicia Coleman is the Directory of the FSU Coastal and Marine Laboratory and was a Pew Marine Conservation Fellow (2001) and Aldo Leopold Leadership Fellow (1991). She is a marine ecologist who explores how ecologically-relevant information is incorporated into conservation and policy. Because the transfer of information from scientists to policy makers is imperfect, Dr. Coleman strives to bridge the gap through service on national councils (e.g., Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council and on National Academy of Sciences panels) to fulfill her obligation to the citizens of this country to ensure that they appreciate, understand, and support scientific endeavors. Dr. Coleman is also the Scientific Director of the Deep=C Consortium, funded to study the repurcussions of the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill.
