Dr. Coutts's research examines the influence of the built environment and ecologically-sensitive land use practices on community health and health behavior. The thrust of his biophilic epidemiology research is aimed at examining the role of green infrastructure in supporting human health and well-being. He received his B.C.H. in Community Health Education and M.P.H. in Health Behavior and Education from New Mexico State University and his Ph.D. in Urban, Technological, & Environmental Planning from the University of Michigan.
