Abstract/Description: The total workshop duration is 90 minutes, with an initial 15-minute lecture reviewing key elements of gait and falls risk. After a brief orientation to the interactive workshop stations, participants then rotate through each of four stations for the next 60 minutes, and faculty sign off on their performance. A packet for each participant includes a face sheet for workshop faculty to document successful performance of each competency task by the participant upon completion of a station. If a participant fails the task on the first attempt, he or she is coached by the faculty facilitator and allowed to repeat the task to demonstrate competency, similar to the approach in life support education. Finally, a 10-minute lecture focuses on how to disseminate the workshop.
